The BlackBerry Internet Service is an email and internet service for BlackBerry devices running BlackBerry 7.1 and earlier.
Designed specifically for independent professionals and busy individuals, the BlackBerry® Internet Solution provides access to core BlackBerry functionality without IT support. It’s a complete mobile communications solution that includes BlackBerry® Internet Service, a BlackBerry® smartphone, accessories and third party applications. Affordable and flexible, it works like a mobile phone contract: just purchase, activate and go!
The BlackBerry Internet Service is compatible with most leading email platforms. ‘Push’ technology automatically delivers email messages straight to you, so you don’t have to go and download your mail before you read it. And you can integrate up to ten business and personal accounts with a single BlackBerry device.

Roaming with BlackBerry®

You can use BlackBerry® services in all countries where MTN offers Data Roaming, provided that your SIM card has been activated for Roaming. Standard data roaming tariffs will apply when you use BlackBerry services outside South Africa. You can benefit from the compressed data though.

How to Use BIS MTN

Use this option if:

• You want to receive messages from your corporate Microsoft® Outlook^®, IBM® Lotus^®Notes^® or Novell^® GroupWise^® email account
• A system administrator is managing BlackBerry^® Enterprise Server within your company
• You subscribe to a wireless service called BES that supports account setup using the BlackBerry^® Enterprise Server Before setting up your email with BlackBerry® Enterprise Service, you will need to contact your IT department to request:
• That an account be set up for you on your organisation’s BlackBerry^® Enterprise Server
• Your enterprise activation password

Q  Why am I being charged for a BIS download?

A  If you use BIS then internet and sending & receiving emails (with attachments less than 3 MB) is free. Attachments more than 3 MB will be charged for.
If you don’t use BIS and are on a Public APN or My MTN APN you will be charged for everything.
Remember: on BIS video and audio streaming is charged for, Whats app and Mxit is charged for, and Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and GTalk are free. Downloading Apps that don’t come with BIS is charged for. Downloading BB Apps are for free.
